Sleepy Hollow Blues Club, Geelong

president’s report

August 2007

Daryl Unthank, PresidentHello Blues Lovers,

Firstly sorry for the lateness of this newsletter.  As some of you are aware there have been a few problems at the Limelight at the moment which has meant that they have had to temporarily close.  Mick is hoping to have the Limelight open again on the 3rd of August.

This has left us with a few problems for our Sunday gigs.  The last one with Blue Dukes was moved to our old stomping grounds at Geelong Trades Hall. It was a great night and I must thank Rick, JP, Paul and Wendy for helping to get this together. Thanks to all the people that came along to support the club.

The gig at the start of the month with Dave Mann from WA was well supported and it was good to see lots of new faces.  We need to get people to gigs otherwise there will not be many places that support Blues left.

On Sunday 5th August we have our Annual General Meeting.  This will be held at The Trades Hall - 127 Myers Street at 5:30pm.   This is the time of year when the members get to have their say as to who and what is to be done for the next year.  Please come to this gig as we need your support. I will not be standing as the president this year and I would sincerely like to thank all the people that have helped me through an increasingly demanding time.  Please give the next President and all the committee the help and encouragement you can. Following the AGM we have Salty Dog playing and of course our jam session.

Just to finish of it is with great pleasure that I can announce that CHAIN will be our headline act for Bluestone this year.  They will be supported by many of our local talented performers and it is going to be a beauty.

Cheers

Daryl
